The spacecraft has given this information about the side of the Moon which was towards the Sun. However, no effect was seen on these neutral particles due to the Sun's radiation or the solar wind. Scientists say that despite this plasma is being generated.
The spacecraft is using dual-frequency radio science to study the Moon's ionosphere. It uses two coherent signals. The signals from the orbiter of Chandrayaan 2 are received at the ground station at Byalulu, Bangalore. Plasma density has been detected by the radio occultation method.
This information on plasma density has been published in the Monthly Journal of the Royal Astronomical Society Letters. It says, 'Whatever we got to see is very unique. ISRO says that a large amount of electron content was also detected near the Moon's poles. According to scientists, these ions may be of gases like argon and neon, which last longer than particles of carbon dioxide and water.
