The National Commission for Women issued a statement saying that it has taken suo motu cognizance of Thursday's incident and immediate action should be taken to deal with such incidents and maintain the dignity of women MPs.
The Commission expressed concern over the matter and stressed that Parliament should set an example of respect and equality. At the same time, the incident was termed as a direct insult to the dignity and rights of women MPs. However, the Commission did not share the full content of the letter.
