In many cities, from transport to the common life, life has become hectic. In such a situation, a big question has arisen regarding the country's biggest entrance exam – NEET UG, 2022 to be held on July 17, 2022. There is confusion about how such an important exam will be conducted in this time of trouble. The Delhi High Court on Thursday also dismissed the petition of the students to postpone the NEET UG.
There is devastation in these states
Talking about the devastation caused by floods in the country, many important states including Maharashtra, Gujarat, and Assam are in the grip of floods. Apart from this, floods have worsened the situation in many other states including Himachal, and Rajasthan. Floods have wreaked havoc in many major cities in these states.
some catastrophe figures

More than 18 lakh students have applied
More than 18 lakh students have applied for the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test i.e. NEET UG 2022 to be conducted by the National Testing Agency/NTA. Through this examination, students get admission to medical courses. It is the biggest entrance exam in the country in terms of the number of applications. Students from almost every state of the country are participating in it. The exam is going to be conducted in 543 cities in the country and 14 outside the country.
What do experts say?
Medical Career Counselor Hornet Expert Parijat Mishra told Amar Ujala that there are still about four days to go for the NEET UG exam, if in some states the flood situation persists even on the day of the examination, then based on the report of the local district administration and the government. The Medical Examination Regulator and the National Testing Agency may revise the examination dates in the respective region or conduct separate examinations for the students there, in consultation with the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare. However, there is no possibility of postponing the examination across the country due to the threat of floods and the situation.
The Russia-Ukraine war increased the number of applicants
This time around two lakh students appeared in the NEET UG exam. One of the main reasons for this is the ongoing war between Russia and Ukraine. Mishra said that in recent times, many students going abroad for studies have returned to the country, the largest number of them being medical students who were stuck in Ukraine. After this development, the number of students going abroad is expected to decrease significantly this year. Also, there are a large number of students who had enrolled abroad only last year, but this time they want to study in the country by giving NEET exam again. That's why the number of applicants has increased this year too.
What does NTA have to say?
On the problem of floods, NTA DG Dr. Vineet Joshi had told Amar Ujala that the flood situation is going to change. Students should continue their preparation. He had said that the students should not be worried about the floods. Students listen to the information of the district administration. Where there is a flood situation, a report will be called for from the district administration. If the student is not able to take the examination due to flood, then separate arrangements will also be made for him later.
