Hindu organizations allege that Aurangzeb tortured Hindus during his reign.

Ramdas Athawale further said that Aurangzeb's grave is protected by the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI). We have to move forward with the ideology of Sambhaji Maharaj. But there should be peace in the country.

Athawale, who is handling the responsibility of the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, appealed to the Muslims not to associate themselves with Aurangzeb. Athawale said, "My request to the Muslim community is that you should not associate yourself with Aurangzeb. The Muslims here were Hindus. The Muslims here are not the children of Aurangzeb. They have nothing to do with him."
