New Delhi: Rs 239 crore spent on PM Modi's 31 foreign trips in five years

The Central Government told the Rajya Sabha on Thursday that in the last five years, Prime Minister Narendra Modi made a total of 36 foreign trips, out of which Rs 239.04 crore was spent on 31 foreign trips. The cost of five trips was borne by the Ministry of Home Affairs, the details of which were not given. Modi visited two or more countries nine times out of 36. Minister of State for External Affairs V Muraleedharan said in a written reply in the Rajya Sabha that Modi's visit to the US from September 21-28, 2019, saw the highest expenditure of Rs 23.27 crore, while the lowest expenditure of Rs 23.86 lakh was incurred on his visit to Japan between September 26-28 this year. Went. These visits have enhanced understanding of India's stand on regional and global issues among foreign partners at the highest level, he said.

 

New Delhi: Opposition leaders walk out of Lok Sabha for not being allowed to raise issues

CPM raised the issue of pension

Communist Party of India-Marxist (CPI-M) MP Elamaram Karim raised the issue of no guidelines being issued by the Central Government and the Employees' Provident Fund Organization so far even after the Supreme Court decides on pension last month. He said that out of 70 lakh pensioners, 30 lakh get less than the minimum prescribed pension of Rs 1,000 per month. Power and Renewable Energy Minister RK Singh told the Lok Sabha that India has achieved 165.94 GW of renewable energy by October itself. The year-end target is to achieve 175 GW capacity. He said a capacity of 76.13 GW is under various stages of implementation and 36.44 GW is under various stages of bidding.

 

Ken-Betwa river link project approved

Jal Shakti Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat said that the Detailed Project Reports (DPRs) of eight river-linking projects in the country have been prepared and the Center has given approval to the Ken-Betwa river-linking projects. National Water Development Agency has identified 16 links under Peninsular River Component and 14 links under the Himalayan Component for inter-basin transfer. Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari said in the Lok Sabha that his ministry had set a target of constructing 12,200 km of National Highways during 2022-23. Out of this, construction of 4,766 km of National Highway has been completed till November this year. In a written reply, he said that apart from the development of highways/expressways in the country, 35 Multi-Modal Logistics Parks (MMLPs) are being developed under the Bharatmala Pariyojana. These MMLPs will act as major cargo consolidation and distribution hubs. Gadkari said that under the Bharatmala project, 191 congestion points were identified across the network.

 

More than 11000 cases pending in Supreme Court for 10 years

Union Law Minister Kiren Rijiju said in the Rajya Sabha that 11049 cases are pending in the Supreme Court for the last 10 years. Similarly, 8.77 lakh civil and 3.74 lakh criminal cases are pending for 10 years in 25 High Courts. Citing data from the National Judicial Data Grid (NJDG), Rijiju said 6.91 lakh civil and 27.26 lakh criminal cases were pending in district and subordinate courts for the last decade. He said several legislative changes have been made in procedural laws to speed up the trial of court cases, including provisions to limit adjournments of court proceedings in criminal and civil matters.

 

New Delhi: Bill to promote non-fossil fuels introduced in Rajya Sabha

The Energy Conservation (Amendment) Bill was introduced in the Rajya Sabha on Thursday to promote non-fossil fuels including ethanol, green hydrogen, and biomass. The bill aims to help the country achieve its international commitments on climate change. The Lok Sabha has already passed this bill in the monsoon session this year itself. Presenting the bill, Energy Minister RK Singh said the country is working towards reducing emissions. However, its per capita emissions are about a third of the global average. He said that if we look at the total carbon dioxide load on the environment, our contribution is only 3.4 percent whereas our population is 17.5 percent of the global population.

 

New Delhi: No proposal to bring back NJAC: Rijiju

Union Law Minister Kiren Rijiju said that the government has no proposal to bring back the National Judicial Appointments Commission (NJAC) with suitable amendments. He gave this answer to the questions of other MPs including Mallikarjun Kharge and Dr. John Bittas. Rijiju said that the appointment of judges to constitutional courts is a continuous, integrated, and collaborative process between the executive and the judiciary.
