On August 8, Minority Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju introduced the 'Waqf (Amendment) Bill, 2024' in the Lok Sabha. Along with this, the 'Muslim Waqf (Repeal) Bill, 2024' was also introduced to remove the old inactive act related to it from the papers. The name of the new bill will be the Integrated Waqf Management, Empowerment, Efficiency and Development Act. Unified Work Management Empowerment Efficient and Development i.e. 'Umeed' in English. This bill was strongly opposed by the opposition. After that on August 9, it was sent to the Joint Parliamentary Committee of Parliament for further discussion.
