Delhi MCD Result: AAP's game plan will be spoiled if the opposition is nominated for mayor, and women will become mayor

Posted on 8th Dec 2022 09:56 am by rohit kumar

The results of the MCD Election Results 2022 have come. Now, in the first meeting of the House, the election of the Mayor and Deputy Mayor will be held. The first mayor will be from among the elected women councilors only because this provision for an election to the post of mayor and deputy mayor every year is in the corporation's act only. In this, the first year, women councilors get this opportunity, while in the third year, this post is reserved for the councilors elected from the Scheduled Castes.

They also have the right to vote

Now it has to be seen whether any opposition candidate nominates in front of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), which has got a majority. If someone is nominated from the opposition, despite having a clear majority, AAP's game plan may go awry and its dream of winning the mayor's post may be in jeopardy.

The mayor in the corporation directly elects the councilors, but the members of the house are the members of the Rajya Sabha along with the MPs of the Lok Sabha and 13 members of the Delhi Legislative Assembly. They also have the right to vote on the post of Mayor and Deputy Mayor. In such a situation, despite having a clear majority from these equations, the equations of political parties deteriorate. BJP lost the post of Deputy Mayor in the year 2014-15.

now it will be

The Municipal Corporation of Delhi State Election Commission will issue the notification of the winning members and send it to the corporation. After this, based on this notification, the Corporation will seek permission from the Lieutenant Governor to convene the House, and from the date of convening the House, the presiding officers are appointed for the oath-taking of the newly elected members. This presiding officer is usually the senior member among the elected members.

Defection law does not apply

The anti-defection law does not apply to the Municipal Corporation of Delhi. In such a situation, a member of any party can vote for the mayor or candidate for any other post. Since the system of issuing a whip is also not applicable in the corporation, there is no effect on the membership of the corporation.

Nominated members will be appointed soon

Now the process of nomination of 10 nominated members will be completed. Although this right has always been with the Lieutenant Governor (LG), since the meaning of the government in the Delhi Municipal Corporation Act was both the central and the state government, then these nominated members were nominated at the suggestion of the state government.

Now since the meaning of the government has become the central government, it is possible that the LG may not take suggestions from the state government and nominate the members himself. Experts from various fields who are above 25 years of age are nominated. They are known as aldermen who do not have the right to vote in the proceedings of the house, but they participate in the election of the chairman and deputy chairman of the ward committees.

They have the right to vote in the election for mayor

Seven Lok Sabha MPs along with 13 MLAs nominated from the Delhi Legislative Assembly and three Rajya Sabha members have the right to vote in the election of the mayor. If he wants, he can come to vote for the post of mayor.

Some found happiness in defectors, some found sorrow

The fate of the defectors was also decided after the election results. Some won, and some lost. Senior leader Mukesh Goyal, who joined AAP after a long stint in Congress, won again. Before this, he has won the election from Congress five times.

Former Congress corporator Aale Mohammad Iqbal, who won the corporation polls with the highest margin of votes, had also joined AAP before the last assembly polls along with their father Shoaib Iqbal.

Guddi Devi, a two-time corporator from the Congress, joined the AAP before the corporation elections but lost from the Malkaganj ward. This is the assembly constituency of AAP MLA Dilip Pandey. Newly elected BJP councilor from Govindpuri Chandra Prakash joined BJP before the corporation elections and has now scored a hat-trick.

BJP's game has started: Sisodia

Amidst the celebration of victory, Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia has made a big allegation against BJP. He has said that BJP's game has started and calls have started coming to his corporators. However, none of your councilors will be sold, we have told them that if BJP people call or come to meet, then record them.

Sisodia said that by winning 134 seats in the MCD, the AAP has ended the 15-year rule of the BJP. The BJP has been reduced to 104 while the Congress has been reduced to nine seats. For us it is not just a victory, it is a big responsibility. A staunchly honest party defeated the biggest and most negative party in the world. Heartfelt gratitude to the people of Delhi for trusting you in MCD, he tweeted.

Earlier, AAP's spokesperson Reena Gupta also alleged that BJP people are trying to buy councilors. No matter how hard the BJP tries, the mayor in Delhi will be from you. BJP had earlier also run Operation Lotus to buy AAP MLAs, but it was not successful.
