Prime Minister Narendra Modi today inaugurated the world's largest office complex in Surat, Gujarat. This complex spread over 67 square feet will be known as Surat Diamond Bourse. It will be the world's largest and most modern center for international diamond and jewelery business.
The complex will be a global hub for the trading of rough and polished diamonds as well as jewelry. The exchange will include a state-of-the-art 'Customs Clearance House' for import-export, a jewelry mall for retail jewelry business and a facility for international banking and secure vaults.
Know the specialty of the largest office complex
Surat Diamond Bourse is the world's largest office complex, with more than 4,500 diamond trading offices. Many companies dealing in raw diamond trade and polished diamond sales will have offices here.
Surat Diamond Bourse will create approximately 1.5 lakh new employment opportunities. State-of-the-art facilities for connectivity have been provided in this building. Also, for security reasons, more than 4000 cameras and state-of-the-art control rooms have been built here.
Surat Diamond Bourse Building is the world's largest office complex with an area of more than 67 lakh square feet. This office complex has even overtaken the headquarters building of the US Defense Department Pentagon.
The Surat Diamond Bourse building is worth around Rs 3000 crore, housing 4,500 diamond trading offices.
In August this year, the Surat Diamond Bourse building was recognized by Guinness World Records as the world's largest office building.
Surat airport's new terminal inaugurated
Prime Minister Narendra Modi also inaugurated the new terminal building of Surat Airport in Gujarat on Sunday. The new integrated terminal building at this airport is capable of handling 1,200 domestic passengers and 600 international passengers during peak hours. According to an official statement, it has a provision to increase the peak hour capacity by 3,000 passengers, as well as increase the annual handling capacity to 55 lakh passengers.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, while addressing the public after the inauguration, said, "Today Surat is among the top 10 developing cities of the world. Surat's street food, skill development work, everything is amazing. Surat was once known as 'Sun City'. It was known earlier, but today the people here, with their hard work, have made it a 'Diamond City'."
He said, "Today the people of Surat and the traders and businessmen here are getting two more gifts. Today itself the new terminal of Surat Airport has been inaugurated and the second big thing that has happened is that now Surat Airport has got it. "
