Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited an exhibition at the International Crop Research Institute's Semi-Arid Tropics (ICRISAT) campus in Patancheru, Hyderabad on Saturday. Today we worship Goddess Saraswati, the goddess of knowledge. The basis of the field you are in is knowledge, science, innovation, invention. The Prime Minister said- Just as India has set new goals for the next 25 years, has started working on them, similarly, the next 25 years are equally important for ICRISAT. You have five decades of experience. In these decades you have helped the agriculture sector in a large part of the world including India. 50 years is a very big time and in this 50-year journey, Jab Jab Jab Jisne Jab, whatever contribution they have made, they all deserve to be congratulated.
PM Modi said that I also congratulate the people who have made efforts to make this work forward. ICRISAT's research, your technology has made farming easy in difficult situations. The Planetary Protection and Climate Change Research Facility have also been inaugurated today. These research facilities will play a vital role in tackling climate change as well as helping the agriculture sector.
PM Modi said – Natural disasters caused by climate change have been a big challenge. It affects both humans and infrastructure. India has announced its zero carbon target by 2070. We have also called for the Pro Planet People Movement. It is a movement that is important to tackle climate change and connects every individual to the climate.
PM Modi said that Pro Planet People is a movement that connects every community with every climate responsibility to fight the environmental crisis. One important aspect of the changing India is digital agriculture. This is our future and in this, the talented youth of India can do great work. How can we strengthen the farmer with digital technology? For this, efforts are continuously increasing in India.
Prime Minister Modi said that our focus is on more than 80 percent of the small farmers of the country who need us the most. In this budget also a lot of emphases has been laid on natural farming and digital agriculture. In this budget, unprecedented emphasis has been given to natural farming and digital agriculture. On one hand, we are focusing on increasing the coverage of coarse cereals, and on the other hand, we are emphasizing chemical-free farming.
The Prime Minister said that while taking steps towards modern agriculture, our government is encouraging modern technology from solar pumps to farmer drones. We are focusing on food security as well as nutritional security. Prime Minister Modi also launched a commemorative postage stamp at the event. He also inaugurated the 'Climate Change Research Facility on Plant Protection.
On this occasion, Union Agriculture Minister Narendra Tomar said that this is the year of Amrit Mahotsav of Independence.
