Prime Minister Narendra Modi has been awarded Cyprus' highest honour. Cyprus President Nikos Christodoulides conferred Cyprus' highest honour, the Grand Cross of the Order of Makarios III, on Prime Minister Modi. The Order of Makarios III is a knighthood honour conferred by Cyprus, which was named after Cyprus' first President Archbishop Makarios III.
Prime Minister Modi said, 'Mr. President, I express my heartfelt gratitude to you, the Government of Cyprus, and the people of Cyprus for the Grand Cross of the Order of Makarios III honour. This is not just an honour for Narendra Modi but for 140 crore Indians. This is an honour for their abilities and aspirations. This is an honour for our culture, brotherhood, and the ideology of Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam. I dedicate this to the friendly relations between India and Cyprus, our shared values , and mutual understanding. I accept this honour with great humility and gratitude on behalf of all Indians. This award is a symbol of our unwavering commitment to peace, security, sovereignty, territorial integrity, and our people.'
Earlier in March, Mauritius Prime Minister Navinchandra Ramgoolam honored PM Modi with his highest civilian award 'The Grand Commander of the Order of the Star and Key of the Indian Ocean'. This honor was given to Prime Minister Modi for his contribution to strengthening relations between India and Mauritius. Modi is the first Indian to receive this honor. This was the 21st international award given to Prime Minister Modi by another country. After this, in April, the Sri Lankan government honored Prime Minister Modi with the 'Sri Lanka Mitra Vibhushan Samman'. The Sri Lankan government gives this honor to the heads of state of countries that have good relations with Sri Lanka.

In November 2024, Prime Minister Modi was honoured with the highest civilian honours by Guyana and Barbados. Guyana honoured PM Modi with the highest national honour - The Order of Excellence, while in Barbados, PM Modi was awarded the prestigious Honorary Order of Freedom of Barbados.
