Puri Stampede: 147 people recorded their statements in the Puri stampede case. The investigation committee will submit its report on July 30

The investigation committee has recorded the statements of 147 people in the stampede case during the Rath Yatra of Lord Jagannath in Puri last month. Three people died and about 50 people were injured in the stampede incident. The administrative investigation committee is headed by Development Commissioner cum Additional Chief Secretary Anu Garg. On Wednesday, 42 people recorded their statements.

 

The investigation committee will submit the report on July 30

 

The statements of witnesses were recorded at the Special Circuit House in Bhubaneswar. Those whose statements were recorded on Wednesday included policemen and staff posted at the Integrated Command and Control Center. The investigation committee has to submit the investigation report to the government on July 30. Investigation officer Anu Garg said that 'We have recorded the statements of various stakeholders, which were recorded at four different times in Bhubaneswar and Puri.' In the last hearing held in Bhubaneswar, the investigation committee had recorded the statements of 17 people.

 

The stampede happened on 29th June.

The stampede incident in Puri happened on 29th June outside the Sri Gundicha temple. The chariots of Lord Jagannath and his siblings were outside the Sri Gundicha temple to go back from the Gundicha temple to the Jagannath temple, when a huge crowd of devotees gathered there, causing a stampede. After the stampede, the then District Magistrate and SP of Puri were suspended. The investigation started the very next day of the incident.
