
The violence against minorities in Bangladesh shows no signs of abating. The latest incident of violence against Hindus occurred in the Mahadevpur area of ​​Naogaon district. A Hindu man, chased by a mob on suspicion of theft, jumped into a canal to escape. According to media reports, the man drowned.
The victim has been identified as Mithun Sarkar from Bhandarpur village. Police recovered his body on Tuesday afternoon. This is the third killing of a Hindu man in Bangladesh in the last 48 hours. In the past 18 days, seven Hindus have been targeted and killed.
Police have not confirmed involvement in theft.
According to local reports, an angry mob chased Mithun Sarkar on suspicion of theft. He jumped into a canal to escape the mob and drowned. Police arrived at the scene some time later and recovered his body. There has been no official confirmation yet that Mithun was involved in any theft.
Earlier on Monday, Sharath Chakraborty Mani, who ran a grocery store in Narsingdi, Bangladesh, was killed by a mob. Also on Monday, a Hindu journalist, Rana Pratap Bairagi, was brutally murdered in Manirampur, Jessore, after being shot and then having his throat slit.

In Narsingdi, on the outskirts of the capital Dhaka, 40-year-old Hindu man Sharath Chakraborty Mani was killed by extremists who attacked him with sharp weapons. According to local media reports, the extremists demanded a Jizya tax from him because he was Hindu. Sharath Chakraborty Mani previously worked in South Korea and returned to Bangladesh a few years ago.

In Manirampur, Jessore, Bangladesh, a Hindu journalist, Rana Pratap Bairagi, was shot in the head and killed. The 45-year-old Bairagi was also the editor of a newspaper. The attackers shot Bairagi several times in the head and then slit his throat. Police said they were trying to apprehend the attackers.
