The Indian-origin sage Sunak, a contender for the post of Prime Minister of Britain, reached the temple on the occasion of Janmashtami and had a darshan of God. During this, his wife former British Chancellor Akshata Murthy was also present with him.

 

Sharing a picture of himself in the temple on Twitter, Sunak wrote on Twitter, 'Today I reached Bhaktivedanta Manor temple with my wife Akshata to celebrate Janmashtami. The birthday of Lord Shri Krishna is a popular Hindu festival. Sunak is a Hindu man of Indian origin. He is in the running for the next British Prime Minister and is giving a tough fight to his rival.

 

Rishi Sunak, who was a minister in Boris Johnson's government in Britain, is trailing UK Foreign Secretary Liz Truss in most polls. Recently, he had said that racism is not a factor in the election of the post of British PM. Recent polls have revealed that Truss has consolidated his lead over former chancellor Rishi Sunak in the race to become British prime minister and leader of the Conservative Party.

 

In the survey conducted on the home website of the Conservative Party, 60 percent of the votes went to Truss and 28 percent to Sunak. 961 party members took part in the online voting process. Of these, nine percent ticked the Don't Know category. In this way, a huge difference of 32 percent votes was recorded between the two prime ministerial candidates.

 

Analyzing this survey report, the Conservative Home has said that this difference in votes is expected to remain till the end. In the survey conducted by various organizations, the percentage of votes in favor of the truss is expected to be 70-30 or 60-40. Be aware that about two lakh members of the Conservative Party will vote for both candidates. The voting is to be held before September 5. The name of the new Prime Minister of Britain will be announced on 5 September.
