Russia is going to conduct a missile drill amidst the ongoing tension with Ukraine. Not only this but Russian President Vladimir Putin himself will also come to see this drill. President Vladimir Putin will oversee military exercises involving Russian "strategic forces", which will also include ballistic and cruise missile launches, news agencies said on Friday.
News agencies quoted a statement made by the Russian Defense Ministry as saying, "On February 19, 2022, under the leadership of the Supreme Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Russia, Vladimir Putin, a planned exercise of strategic deterrence forces will be held, during which ballistic and cruise missiles will be launched."
Russia's Aerospace Forces and Strategic Rocket Forces will take part in what the military has described as a strategic deterrence exercise. The Southern District of Russia's Ground Forces will join the Navy's Northern and Black Sea Fleets in the missile launch. The state-run TASS news agency, citing the Defense Ministry, said the maneuvers were "planned."
This military exercise is going to happen at a time when the tension between Russia and the West is not taking its name. A gathering of Russian troops near the Ukrainian border has raised fears that Moscow may attack its neighbor to the west. However, Russia has been denying any such plan.
