SCO-NSA Meet: SCO-NSA security advisors meeting begins in Delhi, Doval welcomes top officials

India's National Security Advisor, Ajit Doval received top officials at the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) level NSA meeting in Delhi on Wednesday. India is the current chair of the eight-nation SCO and is hosting a series of events.

 

National Security Advisors of Shanghai Corporation Organization (SCO) member countries have arrived in Delhi for the meeting. India's National Security Advisor Ajit Doval said in his remarks before the meeting, 'I express my gratitude to the member countries for accepting the invitation for the meeting.'

 

National Security Advisor Ajit Doval said on the occasion that terrorism of any kind is a threat to international security. All countries have to fulfill their obligation towards Counter Terrorism Protocol including UN Security Council resolutions to deal with terrorism.

 

Ajit Doval further said that the global security scenario has been facing several challenges in recent years. The impact of these challenges has also affected the Shanghai Corporation Organization (SCO) region...Member countries must have mutual respect's sovereignty, territorial integrity, and borders. He said that Chabahar should also be included in the North-South Transport Corridor.

 

Which countries are the members?

Let us tell you that on June 9, 2017, India became a full member of SCO. Apart from India and Pakistan, SCO includes China, Russia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan. Apart from this, there are four observer countries – Afghanistan, Belarus, Iran, and Mongolia. There are six dialogue partners – Armenia, Azerbaijan, Cambodia, Nepal, Sri Lanka, and Turkey.

 

Pakistan and China are likely to attend the SCO-NSA meeting virtually.

 

The Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) is an intergovernmental organization established in 2001 and consists of eight member states, namely India, China, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Pakistan, Russia, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan.
