Semicon India: 'Indian economy performed better than expectations'; PM Modi inaugurates Semicon India

Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated Semicon India-2025 at Yashobhoomi in New Delhi. It is India's largest semiconductor and electronics show. Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that the Indian economy performed better than all expectations with a growth of 7.8 percent in April-June amid global uncertainties. He said, the world trusts India, believes in India, and is ready to build the future of semiconductors with India.

 

Oil was black gold, but chips are semiconductor diamonds

 

After inaugurating the Semicon India conference, Prime Minister Modi said, Oil is black gold, but chips (semiconductors) are diamonds.

 

Let us tell you that Semicon India-2025 is the fourth edition. More than 350 companies from 48 countries and a record number of global delegates are participating in this biggest event to date. The aim of this initiative is to make India a semiconductor superpower.

 

Emphasis on advancing the semiconductor ecosystem

The Prime Minister's Office said in a statement on Monday that the PM will also attend this conference on September 3 at 9.30 am. During this, he will also attend the CEO roundtable. This three-day conference, running from September 2 to 4, will focus on advancing a strong, resilient, and sustainable semiconductor ecosystem in India. Semiconductors are the heart of modern technology. They are very important for important sectors like health, transportation, communication, defense, and space. As the world is moving towards digitalization and automation, semiconductors have become the basis of economic security and strategic independence.

 

There will be a big focus on the semiconductor industry

This three-day conference will focus on semiconductor fab, advanced packaging, smart manufacturing, artificial intelligence, and research and development. It will also include issues like Design Linked Incentive (DLI) scheme, progress of the startup ecosystem, and international cooperation.

 

Global participation and investment opportunities

The conference will be attended by over 150 speakers and over 50 global leaders. Also, over 350 exhibitors will showcase their technological capabilities. Roundtable discussions from six countries, special pavilions for startups, and workforce development will also be part of the event.

 

Vision turned into reality in four years

 

In just four years after the launch of the India Semiconductor Mission (ISM) in 2021, India has turned the vision of its semiconductor journey into reality. To strengthen this vision, the government has launched a Production Linked Incentive (PLI) scheme of Rs 76,000 crore.
