Today is the last day of PM Modi's Bhutan visit; he will attend the Kalachakra ceremony before returning.

Today is the last day of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visit to Bhutan. Before returning from Bhutan, PM Modi will also meet with King Jigme Singye Wangchuck, the fourth king, and participate in the Kalachakra ceremony. This two-day visit by PM Modi will not only strengthen India-Bhutan relations but also bolster the Neighborhood First policy.

 

 

Yesterday, PM Modi met with Bhutan's King Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck. During the meeting, the two leaders discussed a wide range of cooperation, including energy, capacity building, connectivity, technology, defense, and security.

 

 

What did PM Modi say during his visit to Bhutan?

In Bhutan, PM Modi and Jigme Khesar also inaugurated the 1020 MW Punatsangchhu II Hydroelectric Project. PM Modi shared a post on social media, saying, "The meeting with Bhutan's King Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck was wonderful. We discussed a wide range of topics on India-Bhutan relations."

 

 

PM Modi said, "We discussed cooperation in areas such as energy, capacity building, connectivity, technology, defense, and security. India is proud to be a key partner in Bhutan's development journey."

 

 

PM Modi also attended the 70th birthday celebrations of the fourth King of Bhutan yesterday. In addition, PM Modi, along with the King of Bhutan, received blessings from the sacred relics of Lord Buddha at Tashichhodzong in Thimpu.

 

 

What is the Kalachakra Ceremony?

The Kalachakra Ceremony is associated with Tibetan Buddhism, meaning "wheel of time." It is also known as the Mahakumbh (great Kumbha) of Buddhism, where everyone prays together for world peace. Apart from this, many colourful programmes are also organised in the Kaalchakra Ceremony.
