Trinamool Congress MP Saugata Roy has termed even a single crime against women in West Bengal as shameful. Saugata Roy's statement comes in the context of the alleged rape and murder of a minor girl in the Nadia district of Bengal. The TMC MP said that crime against women in Bengal is shameful because there is a woman chief minister herself.
According to the India Today report, Saugata Roy said, 'Everyone is extremely concerned about crime against women and I am not sure that it is because of the media. We have to have zero tolerance in these matters. If any incident happens then strict action should be taken. Even a single such crime in the leadership of a state which has a woman as Chief Minister is quite a shame for all of us. I hope the police and administration will take care of this.
Mamata's statement was criticized
Mamta Banerjee's statement on the Nadia incident is also being criticized. In fact, regarding the incident, Mamta Banerjee said, 'The story they are showing that a minor has died due to rape, would you call it rape? Was she pregnant or was she having an affair? Has he inquired? I have asked the police. They have made arrests. I was told that the girl was having an affair with the boy.
We don't do love jihad here
Mamata Banerjee said, 'It was a love affair and it was confirmed as the family knew about it. If a couple is in a relationship, can I stop him? This is not UP, we don't do love jihad here. This is his liberty. But if there is any disturbance, the police will arrest the culprits. One suspect has already been arrested.
