Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi said on Wednesday that he has spoken to Home Minister Amit Shah, Jammu, and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, and state Congress President Tariq Karra regarding the horrific terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir. He said that the latest information has been taken about the situation of this attack.
Rahul Gandhi is currently on a tour of America. He posted on the social media platform X and wrote, "The victim families should get justice and we all support them." He strongly condemned the attack, calling it heartbreaking and cowardly.
Congress demanded accountability from the government.
The Congress party on Tuesday demanded the government take responsibility for this attack and avoid hollow claims of the situation being normal. The party also demanded an all-party meeting, so that political parties can be taken into confidence and future strategy can be made.
'Attack is a blot on humanity'
Congress called this terrorist attack a shameful blot on humanity and said that an effective response to it is necessary. The party said that the government should take concrete and decisive steps on this issue so that such barbaric incidents are not repeated in the future.
Omar Abdullah condemned
Chief Minister Omar Abdullah has described this terrorist incident as one of the biggest attacks targeting civilians in recent years. He called it a 'very big and serious tragedy'.
Rahul Gandhi expressed condolences to the families of the deceased.
Rahul Gandhi said about the attack, "The killing and injury of tourists in this manner is a heart-breaking and highly condemnable incident. I express my deepest condolences to the bereaved families and wish for the speedy recovery of the injured."
He further said that the whole country is united against terrorism. He appealed to the government to go beyond hollow claims and take concrete steps at the ground level so that no innocent Indian has to lose his life in the future.
26 killed in Pahalgam attack
