Thousands of people have lost their lives in the unprecedented floods in Pakistan. This disaster caused by climate change has also caused great damage to Pakistan at the economic level. Lakhs of people have become homeless and are forced to live on the roadside. Pakistan was already grappling with an economic crisis. Now the WHO has expressed the possibility of a second disaster in Pakistan. According to the WHO, the second wave of diseases and deaths can cause further devastation in Pakistan.
The WHO said in a statement, "We are deeply concerned about the great danger of a second disaster in Pakistan. Health services and infrastructure in Pakistan have been badly affected by the floods. In such a situation, even after the water recedes, death is hovering over the heads of lakhs of people. Due to the disturbed water supply, people have to drink dirty water. Due to this collar and diarrhea are spreading. At the same time, mosquitoes breed in stagnant water which can spread malaria and dengue.
The WHO says that disruption of health services will lead to unsafe births, the risk to people with diabetes and heart disease, and barriers to immunization of children. The WHO says that if this threat is to be reduced, then health services will have to be improved with immediate effect. WHO is helping Pakistan in this matter. Medical camps have been set up and efforts are being made to provide clean drinking water to the people. A fund of 10 million dollars has been released to save the people of Pakistan.
16 million children affected
