India defeated Afghanistan by six wickets in the first T20 played in Mohali. In this match, the Indian team achieved the target of 159 runs by losing four wickets in 17.3 overs. Shivam Dubey played an excellent half-century innings in batting. At the same time, Tilak Verma and Rinku Singh also contributed well. However, everything was not well during Team India's innings. There was a controversy in the live match between India's opening pair Shubhman Gill and Rohit Sharma.

Captain Rohit, who was returning to the T20 team after 14 months, was angry at Shubman after he was run out on the second ball of the first over of the Indian innings without opening the account. Shubman had ignored Rohit's call to take runs, while by that time the hitman had reached the dangerous end. After the match, Rohit stated this entire matter.

When commentator Murali Karthik asked Hitman in the post-match presentation show after Team India's victory, I have never seen you so angry on the onfield! In response, Hitman smiled and said that there was a lack of communication between the two batsmen. Rohit said- Such things keep happening. When this happens you feel frustrated. You want to go out on the field and score for the team. Not everything goes in your favor. We won the match, it is more important. I wanted Shubman Gill to extend his innings longer because he was playing well. However, he too got out in an unfortunate manner. He played a short but useful innings.

During the match, Rohit was injured several times while fielding. Due to the cold, the ball was leaving the hand. Rohit said- It is very cold in Mohali. However, I am fine. When the ball hits the finger, it hurts a lot. Everything went well in the end. A lot of positive things came from this match. Especially with the ball. Bowling here was not easy. Our spinners bowled very well. The fast bowlers also did their job well. The way Shivam Dubey and Jitesh Sharma batted was also excellent. Tilak and Rinku are also in good form.

The captain said- We want to do different experiments. We want our bowlers to bowl in different conditions. As you saw in this match. Washington Sundar bowled the 19th over. We want to challenge ourselves in areas that we are a little uncomfortable with and bowlers are not used to. We want to try. Keeping all these things in mind we will try and do whatever is possible, but not at the expense of the match. We want to make sure we come out on top and play the game well.

Man of the match Shivam Dubey was also happy with his effort in the return match. “It's really cold in here,” he said after the match. I enjoyed playing on this ground. Playing after a long time and batting at number four, there was some pressure on me. One thing was in my mind I had to play my game. I feel a little pressure on the first two or three balls, after that, I just focus on the ball and don't think too much about what's going on. In T20 I know I can hit big sixes. So I can score runs at any time. Dubey played an unbeaten inning of 60 runs in 40 balls. During this, he hit five fours and two sixes.

Earlier, after losing the toss and batting first, Afghanistan had scored 158 runs after losing five wickets in 20 overs. Mohammad Nabi played an inning of 42 runs in 27 balls with the help of two fours and three sixes. Whereas, Azmatullah Omarzai scored 29 runs. For India, Akshar Patel and Mukesh Kumar took two wickets each. India achieved the target by losing four wickets in 17.3 overs. Rohit could not open the account. Whereas Shubhman Gill scored 23 runs, Tilak Verma scored 26 runs and Jitesh Sharma scored 31 runs. Apart from Shivam, Rinku Singh remained unbeaten after scoring 16 runs in nine balls with the help of two fours. The second match of the series will be played in Indore on 14 January.
