G20: 'Instead of who is coming to G20, the focus should be on issues', S jaishankar's big statement

The absence of Russian President Putin and later Chinese President Xi Jinping has been confirmed in the massive G20 summit to be held in India. Many people are also raising questions regarding this. Which Foreign Minister S Jaishankar said on Monday that instead of who is attending the G-20 summit and who is not, the focus should be on the position adopted by the member countries on the burning issues. He said this while participating in a discussion on a news channel.

The External Affairs Minister said that ultimately, a country would be represented by the one it has chosen. The level of representation does not become the ultimate determinant of the status of a country. In this week's summit, China will be represented by its Prime Minister Li Qiang and Russia will be represented by its Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov. Putin recently telephoned Prime Minister Narendra Modi to inform him that he was unable to attend the summit as he had to concentrate on military operations in Ukraine.

The Russian President also did not attend the last G-20 summit held in the Indonesian city of Bali in December last year. It is believed that an arrest warrant has been issued against him from the international court in the case related to the attack on Ukraine, due to which he is avoiding foreign tours.

Earlier, Russian President Vladimir Putin had also said that he would not attend the summit to be held in India. Instead of Putin, Lavrov will attend the summit and is expected to attend two plenary sessions on September 9 and 10, according to a statement issued by the Russian Foreign Ministry. Lavrov is scheduled to hold several bilateral talks and contacts on the sidelines of the summit.

External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar meets James Cleverly

External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar held talks with British Foreign Secretary James Cleverley and complimented him on the success of the G20 Summit in New Delhi. Foreign Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar said that it was great to talk to British Foreign Minister James Cleverly. My heartiest appreciation for his best wishes for the success of the New Delhi G20 Summit.
