The central government on Wednesday downgraded the security of the British High Commission and the British High Commissioner in Delhi. Barricades were removed from outside the British High Commission and the residence of British High Commissioner Alex Ellis at 2 Rajaji Marg. When an attempt was made to seek the British High Commission's reaction in the matter, their spokesperson said, "We will not comment on security matters." However, soon after this the security of the Indian High Commission in London was increased. The number of policemen stationed there was also increased.

Earlier, India decided to reduce the security at a time when Khalistani supporters demonstrated at the Indian High Commission in London and insulted the tricolor. It is being claimed that due to lapses in security arrangements at the Indian High Commission in London, the protesters managed to enter the premises. India had strongly objected to this incident. However, there is no official statement from the British High Commission in Delhi on the exact reason behind the removal of barricades.

India objected to the incident and demanded that all those involved in it be arrested and strict action be taken against them. India had also demanded to further strengthen the security system to prevent such incidents. However, the incident was also condemned by the British authorities. He called it outrageous and totally unacceptable.
