Prime Minister Narendra Modi has launched a 5G testbed today. It will support the country's telecom industry and startups. Apart from this, it will validate their products, prototypes, and solutions in the fifth generation.
On the occasion of the Silver Jubilee celebrations of TRAI, PM Modi said, 'I have got the opportunity to dedicate my own, self-made 5G 5G testbed to the nation. This is also an important step toward self-reliance on critical and modern technology in the telecom sector. I congratulate all the colleagues associated with this project and our IITs.
8 institutes have developed together
The 5G testbed has been developed jointly by a Total of 8 Institutes. It has been developed under the leadership of IIT Madras. The projects include IIT Delhi, IIT Hyderabad, IIT Bombay, IIT Kanpur, IISc Bangalore, Society for Applied Microwave Electronics Engineering and Research (SAMEER), and Center of Excellence in Wireless Technology (CEWiT).
This project cost more than 220 crores.
