Concerns about school-going children have increased amid rising COVID-19 cases in Delhi. However, for the time being, experts are against closing the school. Health experts agree that schools should not be closed. However, there is a need to increase measures or strictness to avoid corona cases.

Health experts said, 'We all know that Covid-19 is not over yet. We have initiated investigations to ensure that a student's health is not denied and undermined. Unwell students are isolated and left at their homes so that they can study without any apprehension or worry, said Anshu Mittal, principal of MRG School, Rohini.

He further said, 'Also keep sending recorded lectures to sick students, so that they do not lag in studies. The students are getting proper training to prioritize cleanliness and hygiene through the health-centric center organized for them. As always, proper social distancing is being followed.

Shubhi Soni, Head of Shri Ram Wonder Years, Rohini, said, “The sudden increase in corona cases is worrying, closing schools is not an option as students have routine and study habits, which should not be disturbed again. May impede progress in their resumed studies after lockdown. “The health of the students should also not be compromised. That is why we are taking the necessary precautions for temperature checks and isolation measures for sick students. We are also sending them worksheets so that they do not miss studies and can live comfortably. Learn from their homes too.

He said, 'School trips have been put on hold for some time. Outside food is also not allowed. We are providing a clean food facility for the students. Students are not allowed to bring home-cooked food and share it with friends.

According to the Health Department data, on August 7, 1,372 new cases of coronavirus infection were reported in Delhi and six patients died. The infection rate stood at 17.85 percent, the highest since January 21. On January 21, the infection rate was 18.04 percent.

According to the Health Department data, the number of patients under treatment for Kovid-19 in Delhi has come down to 7,484, from 8,048 a day earlier. On Sunday, 2,423 cases of the Covid epidemic were reported in the capital, two patients died and the infection rate was recorded at 14.97 percent.

At the same time, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal said on Tuesday that the cases of Kovid are increasing in the national capital, but there is no need to panic as most of the new cases are showing mild symptoms. Kejriwal said his government was closely monitoring the situation.

The Chief Minister said, 'Kovid cases are increasing. We are monitoring them and whatever steps are needed will be taken. Minor symptoms are being seen in most of the cases, so there is no need to panic.

According to Anil Sachdev, Director of Pediatrics Intensive Care at Sir Ganga Ram Hospital, children are at increased risk due to coronavirus and seasonal diseases.

He said, 'We have seen that mild Covid symptoms have been found in children. In the last month, only two children were critical, but those children were cured. School should not be closed. But the Kovid-protocol needs to be followed properly.

Krishna Chugh, director, and HOD of pediatrics, Fortis Memorial Research Institute, said once a child who is infected goes to school but does not follow the COVID protocol, he can become a source of infection for classmates and friends.

“There is currently no need to close schools, but parents and the public should be educated about the symptoms and preventive measures of monkeypox,” he said. Schools reopened completely in offline mode in April this year after a prolonged shutdown of nearly two years in the wake of the pandemic. Experts have warned of further closure of the school, citing irreparable loss of learning.
