Many Twitter handles including Modi got an official label feature: Which removed after some time; Musk said - such experiments will continue

Twitter on Wednesday added the 'official' label to the handles of leaders including Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Amit Shah, Rajnath Singh, Rahul Gandhi, and Sachin Tendulkar among others. However, this label was removed shortly after. Now official writing is not visible under any account.

Shortly after this, Twitter owner Elon Musk tweeted, Please note that Twitter will do many stupid things in the coming months. Many experiments will be done. We will put forward what works. Those who do not will be replaced.

First, understand why Twitter did this

The company introduced this feature to create a distinction between an account with a blue tick and an official verified account. Twitter official Esther Crawford tweeted, "Many people have asked how they differentiate between blue ticked and officially verified accounts. This is the reason why the 'official' label has been added to some accounts. All previously verified accounts will not get the 'official' label.

Crawford said that the accounts being given the official label include government accounts, business partners, commercial companies, media outlets, and celebrities. This official label cannot be purchased. Crawford pointed out that the New Twitter Blue does not include ID verification. This is a paid subscription.

Apart from Modi, the official label also appeared on the Twitter handle of these leaders.

The official label was also seen on the Twitter handles of Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar, and some other ministers. Players like Sachin Tendulkar were also given the Twitter label.

Rs 660 for the blue tick

For blue tick i.e. verified accounts on Twitter, the user will have to pay $ 8 (about Rs 660) every month. This charge will vary from country to country. Elon Musk announced this on Tuesday night, five days after buying Twitter on October 27. On the other hand, after receiving complaints from all over the world for paying blue ticks, Elon Musk made it clear that all complainants, please continue to complain, but they will have to pay $ 8.

3 reasons to switch to subscription mode

1. The company is incurring a loss of 32 crores daily. They want to increase revenue from the new model.

2. Musk has bought Twitter for $44 billion. They want to make up for it soon.

3. Twitter has a huge debt. They don't want to depend on advertisers to finish it.

2 major changes made so far

About half the employees have been fired for cost-cutting. After the layoff, Musk said, "When the company is losing $ 4 million (Rs 32.77 crore) a day, we have no option but to lay off employees.

Musk recently launched a Twitter Blue subscription for $8 in some countries. If people don't buy it, they will lose their verified checkmark. This subscription will launch in India within a month. For this, you may have to pay around 200 rupees here.

Twitter Blue service was launched in June

The 'Twitter Blue service' was first launched in June of last year. The subscription service was launched in the US, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand. The monthly charge for 'Twitter Blue Service in these countries was $4.99. Verification was not available in this service, but Musk has now added a blue badge to it. The service charge has also been increased to $8.
