Directed by Aditya Dhar, Dhurandhar's film is just seven days away from release. The film has been generating considerable buzz since the trailer was released. Director-producer Aditya Dhar has revealed all the characters in the film, except for Ranveer Singh.

There were persistent rumors on social media that Ranveer Singh would be playing Major Mohit Sharma in the film, but Aditya Dhar broke his silence and denied all these rumors. However, now, even before the release, Dhurandhar is facing a threat as Major Mohit Sharma's family has approached the Delhi High Court. Read the details below to find out why Mohit Sharma's family went to court despite Aditya Dhar's clarification:

Will Dhurandhar not be released on December 5th?

According to a Bar & Bench report, the family of Ashok Chakra winner Major Mohit Sharma has filed a petition in the Delhi High Court, accusing the makers of "Dhurandhar" of portraying the Special Forces officer's secret operations and martyrdom without obtaining permission from the Indian Army and Major Mohit Sharma's legal heirs.

In the petition, his family stated that martyrs are "not commercial commodities" and that no one has the right to portray a soldier's life for personal gain without knowing the full truth, respecting, and accepting the lives of their people. They also stated that the martyr's posthumous personality rights and the privacy and dignity of his family have been violated. They also expressed serious concerns about national security in the scenes depicted in the film.

Military strategy was depicted.

According to the petition filed by Major Mohit Sharma's family, the film's story was approved without consulting the Additional Directorate General of Public Information (ADGPI) regarding several sensitive scenes of military strategy, infiltration tactics, and operational procedures. This is, in turn, reflective of how the Indian Army has been portrayed in the media. In the petition, the family of martyr Mohit Sharma has named the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC), the Additional Directorate General of Public Information, and co-producers Aditya Dhar and Jio Studios.

In their petition, the family members have also requested that the release of "Dhurandhar" be stopped and a private screening be held for Major Mohit Sharma's family before the public premiere. They have also requested that any future film based on the life of martyr Major Mohit Sharma be made, requiring prior permission from the Army and his legal heirs.

When is "Dhurandhar" releasing?

Speaking of the release date of Dhurandhar, directed by Aditya Dhar, the movie will hit theaters on December 5, 2025. Ranveer Singh's character is currently hidden, but the other actors' characters have been revealed. Sanjay Dutt plays Superintendent of Police (SP) Chaudhary Aslam, Akshaye Khanna plays Rehman the dacoit, R. Madhavan plays National Security Advisor (NSA) Ajay Sanyal, Arjun Rampal plays Major Iqbal (ISI), and Rakesh Bedi plays Jameel.
