The US will provide $600 million in additional military aid to Ukraine. The State Department gave this information on Friday.
"I am authorizing our 21st drawdown of US weapons and equipment for Ukraine from September 2021," US State Secretary Antony Blinken said. The $600 million drawdown includes additional weapons, munitions, and equipment from the US Department of Defense.
The US military has provided about USD 15.8 billion to Ukraine since the beginning of this administration.
He said that along with allies and partners, the US is distributing weapons and equipment that Ukraine's military is effectively using, as they continue to respond against Russia's aggression.
According to Blinken, President Biden has made it clear that until the situation is resolved, the US will support the people of Ukraine.
With patience and determination, the people of Ukraine are defending their motherland, he said. They are fighting for their future. The United States is constantly helping Ukraine. Ukraine is also fighting the war very bravely and pushing the enemies back.
He said that the capabilities we are providing are helping the people of Ukraine on the battlefield and also making Ukraine stronger for dialogue in the future. Blinken reiterated that the US and its allies support Ukraine.
The Russian military launched a military operation in Ukraine on February 24, three days after Moscow recognized separate regions of Ukraine - Donetsk, and Luhansk - as independent entities.
Several countries, including the UK, US, Canada, and the European Union, have condemned Russia's military operations in Ukraine and imposed sanctions on Moscow. These countries have also promised to help Ukraine with military aid to fight Russia.
