India's permanent representative in the United Nations Security Council, Ruchira Kamboj, gave such information which shows that India does not back down from its principles under any circumstances. Addressing the Security Council, Kamboj said that during the tenure of 2021-22 as a non-permanent member of the UNSC, there came a time when India had to stand alone. But he did not give up the principles he believed in. Ruchira Kamboj, President of the 15-nation UN Security Council for December, said that during the last two years, we spoke in support of peace, security, and prosperity. We emphasized not to hesitate to raise our voices against the common enemies of humanity, such as terrorism.

Kamboj said that a time came during India's UNSC tenure when we had to stand alone. The choice we have during that time is to let go of the principles we truly believe in. But we stuck to our stand. He said that in some cases where we had genuine differences with some Council members such as on the issue of the Security Council's role in combating climate change, India's opposition was based on principles.
