Prime Minister Narendra Modi met Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas in New York on Saturday. The meeting of the two leaders took place at the Lotte New York Palace Hotel in New York. PM Modi expressed deep concern over the humanitarian situation in Gaza. He spoke of India's continued support of the Palestinian people.

PM Modi explained how peace and stability will come.

Prime Minister Modi called for a ceasefire on the Israel-Palestine issue, the release of hostages, and a return to the path of dialogue and diplomacy. He stressed that only a two-nation solution can provide lasting peace and stability in the region. India was one of the first countries to recognize Palestine. The PM reiterated India's continued support for Palestine's membership in the United Nations.

PM Modi condemned the terrorist attack.

India has long been considering a two-state solution to the Israel-Palestine conflict. Prime Minister Modi was one of the first global leaders to condemn the horrific terrorist attack on Israel by Hamas on October 7, but India has also repeatedly expressed concern over the deteriorating situation in Gaza.

India also sent humanitarian aid.

India also sent humanitarian aid to the people of Gaza as part of its commitment. In July India released the first tranche of $2.5 million to the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees for the year 2024-25.

Also met the Kuwait Crown Prince.

Prime Minister Modi also held bilateral meetings with Nepali Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli and Kuwait Crown Prince Sheikh Sabah Khalid Al-Hamad Al-Mubarak Al-Sabah. Prime Minister Modi, along with the Crown Prince of Kuwait, reviewed India-Kuwait bilateral relations and discussed ways to further strengthen the historical ties and strong people-to-people contacts.

Discussion on enhancing cooperation with Nepal

In the meeting with Prime Minister Oli, Prime Minister Modi discussed matters of mutual interest to strengthen cooperation in all areas of the centuries-old multifaceted, and expanding India-Nepal partnership.
