UP Rain: Rain wreaks havoc in UP, 17 people lost their lives in 24 hours; Orders to close schools in these districts

For the last three days, the situation has been miserable due to continuous rain in many districts of the state including the capital Lucknow. Life is disrupted due to rain. In Lakhimpur and Barabanki districts, the District Magistrate has declared a holiday in all schools from primary to class 12 on Tuesday.

 

According to the order issued by the District Magistrate, all private and government schools will remain closed on Tuesday. Strict action will be taken against school managers for not following the order.

 

Along with rain, there have also been incidents of lightning in the state. There has also been loss of life and property due to house collapse. Crops have been damaged due to water logging in the fields. 17 deaths have been reported from Sunday night till late Monday night.

 

Chief Minister gave instructions to speed up relief work

Given the rain, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has instructed the officials of the concerned districts to conduct relief work with full promptness. Said that officers should visit the area and keep an eye on the relief work. Immediately distribute the permissible relief amount to the people affected by the disaster. In case of waterlogging, effective arrangements for drainage should be made. The water level of rivers should be continuously monitored.

 

The damage caused to crops should be assessed and its report should be made available to the government so that compensation amount can be provided to the affected farmers as per rules. Taking cognizance of the animal loss due to lightning in Unnao, the Chief Minister has given instructions to provide permissible assistance amount to the affected animal farmers. He has directed the district administration to distribute financial assistance of Rs 4,000 per sheep.

 

Alert issued till 16 September

By September 16, light to moderate rain with thunderstorms may occur over most parts of eastern Uttar Pradesh including the Terai belt and some districts of western Uttar Pradesh. An alert has been issued for heavy rain in Sultanpur, Rae Bareli, Amethi, Ayodhya, and Ambedkar Nagar on Tuesday. Apart from this, there is an alert for rain with thunder in many districts of Eastern UP.
