Flipkart, the flagship company of the e-commerce sector, has brought 'voice assistants' technology to make online shopping easy for customers. The AI technology-supported platform for voice recognition and interaction has been developed by Flipkart's technology team using speech recognition, natural language processing, machine translation and text to speech tools for Indian languages. The platform is capable of understanding local Indian languages such as Hindi and is able to search, share information and take orders from a product in various categories of e-commerce products. The AI technology-supported platform is capable of identifying the language spoken by the user itself and can easily understand shopping related interactions in various Indian languages in real time. Flipkart's Chief Product and Technology Officer Jayendran Venugopal said, "Video, Vernacular and Voice based technologies are critical to address the challenges associated with the adoption of e-commerce in India. We have seen a tremendous interest in our videos and Vernacular measures and the next step in this direction is to develop the ability to identify and communicate in the e-commerce space.
He said, 'Flipkart's technology team traveled across the country to understand the various contexts related to voice recognition and ability to communicate and made the necessary changes to identify different forms of Indian languages and to respond in the same language. . Flipkart spent five months on-the-ground assessing various cities and towns and gathering the necessary materials, which eventually led to the development of voice assistance for the grocery sector. With the help of this research, the company found out what necessary features the customer wants in view of easy services with the help of voice.
Flipkart says that voice assistance will make a customer's purchase more personalized and the services it receives will become easier. In addition to understanding the changes in voice in English and Hindi, it can easily understand mixed languages (Hinglish etc.) and the company says that with the help of this, the customer will experience the same way as he would from a shopkeeper. Are communicating Manish Kumar, senior vice-president (grocery, general merchandise and furniture) at Flipkart, says, "Voice-based shopping is a natural process and we want to give our customers a conversational experience in a colloquial approach."
