BJP has criticized Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge for his comments on BJP leaders taking a dip in the Sangam during the Maha Kumbh in Prayagraj. The party called his comments anti-Sanatan and demanded an apology from Rahul Gandhi and Sonia Gandhi.
In fact, while addressing the 'Jai Bapu, Jai Bhim, Jai Samvidhaan' rally in Mhow, Madhya Pradesh, Kharge had alleged that BJP leaders were competing with each other to take a dip in the Sangam for the cameras. He had questioned whether their dip would eradicate poverty in the country. He also said that if anyone is hurt, he apologizes.
New controversy due to Kharge's comment
This comment by Congress National President Mallikarjun Kharge came on the day when Union Home Minister Amit Shah took a dip in the Sangam. BJP National Spokesperson Sambit Patra accused Kharge of mocking people's devotion towards Maha Kumbh and said that it has been a symbol of the Sanatan faith for thousands of years.
He said that crores of people have been hurt by his comments about Ganga Maiya, such comments against Sanatan are shameful. He said that Congress and its leader Rahul Gandhi should give an explanation as to how the party can support such anti-Sanatan thoughts.
Patra challenged Congress
BJP MP Sambit Patra challenged Rahul and Sonia to make such comments against other religions. He questioned whether you can ask whether poverty will be eradicated by participating in the Iftar party. BJP IT department chief Amit Malviya said that Congress has now become the new Muslim League.
