From March 23, widespread rain and thundershowers are likely to start over Northwest India including the Western Himalayan region and states like Punjab, Haryana, Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, and Rajasthan. Ahmedabad Meteorological Department Director Manorama Mohanty said light rain is likely to occur in Gujarat for the next 3-4 days, with the possibility of light rain on Tuesday.

According to the Meteorological Department, some other parts of Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, West Bengal, and Sikkim may receive heavy rainfall (64.5 mm-115.5 mm) today. The IMD had put Assam and Meghalaya on orange alert for Monday. At the same time, a yellow alert has been issued in Bihar, West Bengal, and Arunachal. Light to moderate rain with thunder and lightning is very likely to continue over West Bengal & Sikkim and northeastern states during the next three days. Heavy rainfall is very likely at isolated places over Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, and Mughalia on the 22nd.

According to the IMD, Delhi on Monday received the highest 24-hour rainfall for March in the last three years, recording 6.6 mm of rainfall in just three hours.
