North India is boiling with the fire raining from the sky. The mercury in Churu, Rajasthan has crossed 50 degrees Celsius. Temperatures in other cities have also been recorded around 48-49 degrees. In Delhi too, the mercury is about to touch 50 degrees. At the same time, the day's mercury in Jhansi, UP was 49 degrees. The temperature in Agra was 48.6 and in Varanasi, it was 47.6 degrees. According to Atul Kumar Singh, a scientist at the Regional Meteorological Center, Lucknow, UP has never experienced such heat in May.

 

The heat is also wreaking havoc in the hilly states. The mercury has reached 43 degrees in the Jammu division of Jammu and Kashmir. Due to this, a holiday had to be declared in schools. The mercury in Una, Himachal has crossed 44 degrees.

 

The Meteorological Center in Jaipur said that Churu was the hottest in the country on Tuesday. The maximum temperature here was recorded at 50.5 degrees, which is the highest this season. Earlier, the mercury was recorded at 50.8 degrees on June 1, 2019. Apart from Churu, the temperature was recorded at 49.4 degrees in Ganganagar, Rajasthan, 49 in Pilani and Jhunjhunu, 48.3 in Bikaner, 48.2 in Kota, 48 in Jaisalmer and 46.6 degrees in Jaipur. Earlier, the maximum temperature of 48.6 degrees was recorded in Pilani on May 2, 1999. The state government has asked people to step out of their homes only if it is very important.

 

There will be no relief from the heat wave for two days

 

According to the Meteorological Department, the temperature reached close to 50 degrees at three centers in the capital. The maximum temperature was recorded at 49.9 degrees Celsius in Mungeshpur and Narela and 49.8 degrees Celsius in Najafgarh. The department said that people will not get relief from the scorching heat and heat wave for at least two days.

 

People are scorching due to the harsh heat in Delhi

For the first time in the history of 57 years, the highest temperature was recorded in Ayanagar on Tuesday and in 51 years in Ridge.

 

If we look at the data of the maximum temperature of Ayanagar from 1967 to 2023, the temperature was recorded at 47.4 degrees on 28 May 1988 and 47 on 11 June 2019, while it was recorded at 47.6 on Tuesday. At the same time, the temperature at the Ridge was recorded at 47.5 on Tuesday, which became a record. According to the data of the Ridge from 1973 to 2023, the temperature was recorded at 47.2 degrees on May 16, 2022, and 46.3 degrees on June 7, 2014.

 

Meteorological Department scientist Dr Kuldeep Srivastava said that Safdarjung is the standard center in the capital. On Tuesday, the temperature here was recorded at 45.8 degrees and the minimum temperature was 27.4 degrees. The maximum temperature is the second highest in the last four years. On May 27, 2020, the temperature was recorded at 46 degrees in Safdarjung. Talking about the record, from 1931 to 2023, the temperature was recorded at 47.2 on May 29, 1944, and 46.7 degrees on June 17, 1945, in Safdarjung.

 

Minor relief after two days from western disturbance

 

According to the Meteorological Department, such heat will continue for two more days. There is a red alert for heat and heat waves on Wednesday as well. During this time, the temperature is expected to be 46 degrees. While the heat wave situation will remain during the day. Dusty winds will blow at the speed of 25-35 km per hour during the day. Almost the same situation will prevail on May 30 as well. The weather will change in the evening.

 

Due to the western disturbance, there will be a slight drop of two to three degrees in temperature on May 31 and June 1. The department has predicted slight rain and dusty winds on May 31 and June 1. Even if the temperature drops by two to three degrees by the first week of June, the heat will still be felt to be more than 45 degrees.
