Women in Afghanistan will no longer be able to go to amusement parks. The Taliban have banned the entry of women. The Taliban government's "moral police" ordered on Wednesday that women in Afghanistan be denied entry to the country's amusement parks. The Taliban have already imposed a range of restrictions on Afghan women after the democratically elected Ashraf Ghani government was toppled. This new Taliban order threatens to further affect women's freedom.
A spokesman for Afghanistan's Ministry of Propagation of Virtue and the Prevention of Evil (MPVPV) said on Wednesday that women would not be allowed to enter the amusement park. Two park operators were quoted by the news agency Reuters as saying the Taliban had instructed them not to allow women to enter their parks.
However, it is not yet clear how these new restrictions will be implemented, as a few days ago the same ministry said in a rule that parks should be divided separately for women and men. Also, it was said in the rule that separate days should be fixed for women to go to the parks.
