Bankrupt Pakistan is not desisting from giving shelter to terrorism. According to the report of America's Bureau of Counterterrorism, Pakistan's attitude against terrorism remained wavering rather than tough. He has taken slow action in the name of appearances. As a result of this, there was an increase in mass murders and terrorist incidents in 2021 as compared to the year 2020.

According to American Country Reports on Terrorism- 2021, terrorist organizations like Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), Balochistan Liberation Army, and ISI-like are flourishing in Pakistan. According to the report, these terrorist organizations are continuously targeting the people of Pakistan and committing mass murders.

The terrorists of Haqqani Network, Lashkar, and Jaish-e-Mohammed, who are carrying out terrorist conspiracies in India and other countries outside Pakistan and are included in the UN-American terrorist list, have also found shelter in Pakistan. Pakistan prosecuted the founder of Jaish-e-Mohammed, Masood Azhar, but there was no reduction in the terrorist conspiracy.

Warning: Things will get worse if political uncertainty persists

General elections in Pakistan are likely to be held in October. The kind of political uncertainty prevailing in the country, and the economic crisis may deepen further. This apprehension has been expressed in the Asia Election Outlook 2023. Anyway, Pakistan is on the verge of failing to repay the loan installment.

Worsening economic conditions can happen earlier also. Imran Khan's party Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf may open the way to power in case of a dire economic situation and early elections. She had come to power earlier also with populist promises. If this happens, a vociferous confrontation between Khan and the army may begin. This will increase conflict and violence and deepen Pakistan's economic crisis.

Ban ineffective: Pakistan remained in FATF's gray list but did not crack down on terrorism

It has been said in the report that in South Asia, in which most of India's neighboring countries come, Afghanistan and Pakistan are the only ones who nurture terrorism. Colombia, Yemen, Lebanon, Libya, Iraq, Philippines, Sudan, Cuba, etc. are the haven countries for terrorists in the world.

In 2018, Pakistan has designated a country of particular concern (CPC) under the International Religious Freedom Act of 1998. Redesignated as CPC in 2019, 2020, and 2021. Apart from this, Pakistan was placed on the gray list of FATF to monitor and act on terrorist funding in 2018 but did not act according to the fixed points.

Praise: India changed the law to stop terrorism, stopped funding, shared information

It has been said in America's Country Reports on Terrorism that India took strict action to curb terrorism. In 2021, militancy affected the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir, northeastern states, and parts of central India. India took steps against terrorism.

Hosted the 2nd Quad Counter Terrorism Tabletop Exercise with Australia and Japan. India promptly responds to US requests regarding terrorism investigation. Also the Unlawful Activities Prevention Act (UAPA), 1967 was amended in 2019. Extradition treaties have also been made with many countries so that terrorists can be caught.
