Prime Minister Narendra Modi has described the ‘Nari Shakti Vandan Adhiniyam’ (Women’s Reservation Bill), introduced in 2023, as a significant step for the 21st century. He stated that this Act was passed unanimously by all political parties, a fact that underscores the nation’s commitment to women’s empowerment. This legislation fulfills the long-felt need—spanning decades—for reserving seats for women within democratic structures.

PM Modi noted that while the Act was passed unanimously by all parties, the Opposition, in particular, emphasized the necessity of implementing the women’s reservation law by 2029. He reiterated that the need to provide reservations for women within democratic frameworks has been a recognized imperative for decades. He further added that India’s ‘Nari Shakti’ (women's power) has made immense contributions to the nation’s development.
