New Delhi. The Airports Authority of India (AAI) has issued Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) to all its airports to recommend domestic commercial flight operations from 25 May. According to the SOP, it will be mandatory for all the passengers to register on the Arogya Setu app on their phones.
The Airports Authority of India said that the Arogya Setu app in the phone will be verified by the employees of the Central Industrial Security Force / Airport at the entrance. However, Arogya Setu App is not mandatory for children below 14 years of age.
AAI said that airport operators will have to make proper arrangements to make passengers' belongings free of infection before entering the terminal building. Also, it will be mandatory for passengers to pass through the thermal check area before entering the airport terminal building.
According to the SOP issued on May 20, airport operators will have to make proper arrangements for the sanitization of the passenger's luggage before entering the building of the terminal. AAI manages more than 100 airports in the country. However, large airports like Delhi, Mumbai, Bangalore and Hyderabad are operated by private companies. Civil Aviation Minister Hardeep Singh Puri had announced on Wednesday that domestic passenger flight service in the country will be restored from May 25.
Domestic passenger flights will be started in a gradual manner from May 25
However, Puri did not say when international passenger flights would be resumed. All commercial passenger flights in the country have been suspended since March 25 amid the lockdown implemented to prevent the spread of corona virus infection.
Puri tweeted, 'Domestic flights will be resumed in a gradual manner from May 25, 2020. All airports and aviation companies are being informed to be ready for operations from 25 May. He said, "The Civil Aviation Ministry is issuing standard operating procedures (SOPs) separately for passenger transport."
Puri said on Tuesday that the central government cannot decide alone on resuming passenger flights and state governments should be prepared to allow these services under the spirit of collaborative federalism.
Senior government officials said that initially 30 percent of domestic flights will be allowed to operate. An official said, "After this, the number of flights will be increased gradually." Officials also said that the government can fix the limit of all air fares so that airlines do not charge fares. The official said, 'Currently the idea is going on regarding the lowest price and maximum price limit on air fares. It will be decided soon.
