Argentinian football star Lionel Messi arrived in Delhi today, Monday, and a large crowd of young people gathered to see him. Fans are lining up to meet the footballer. A queue stretching for almost a kilometre has formed outside the Arun Jaitley Stadium.
Messi will be participating in an exhibition match at the Arun Jaitley International Stadium. In light of this, the Delhi Police have made elaborate security arrangements. Considering the recent stampede during a Lionel Messi event in Kolkata, Delhi Police have implemented multi-layered security measures at and around the Arun Jaitley Stadium, where the Argentinian football icon will be attending another event.
According to a senior police officer, extensive arrangements have been made to ensure the smooth conduct of the event. Special attention has been given to crowd management, access control, and traffic regulation. Multiple security cordons have been established around the Arun Jaitley Stadium, and additional police personnel, along with paramilitary forces, have been deployed. Entry to the stadium will not be permitted without a valid pass. The entire area will be monitored through CCTV cameras and other technological means. Quick Reaction Teams (QRTs), senior security officers, and Emergency Response Units will be on standby throughout the event.
Vehicles to be parked at three locations
Deputy Commissioner of Police (Traffic) Nishant Gupta said that the traffic police have identified three main parking areas for labelled vehicles, including P-1 near Vikram Nagar. Unlabeled vehicles will have to be parked at the Rajghat Power House parking lot and Mata Sundari Lane. From there, people can walk to the stadium.
No parking near the stadium, walk from Rajghat.
Those using app-based taxis are advised to alight at Rajghat Chowk and walk the rest of the way. A senior traffic officer said that parking is strictly prohibited near the Arun Jaitley Stadium. Vehicles parked there will be towed and fined. It is advised to use the metro or buses as much as possible. 150 Police Personnel Deployed for Smooth Traffic Flow.
According to the Deputy Commissioner of Traffic Police, approximately 150 police personnel have been deployed as part of the traffic and security arrangements. Traffic diversions may be implemented at Delhi Gate Chowk and ITO if needed. Commuters are advised to avoid Bahadur Shah Zafar Marg, ITO, Delhi Gate, Netaji Subhash Marg, and Brijmohan Chowk from 10 AM until the event concludes.
