Foreign investors pulled out Rs 1 lakh crore from India

 

First of all, talking about India, within three months after the start of the war, foreign portfolio investors withdrew 1 lakh crore rupees from the Indian market, whereas before that in the last 9 months only 50 thousand crore rupees were withdrawn. All the emerging markets around the world including India are facing a monetary crunch due to inflation.

 

Due to this war, the rupee also suffered a record fall against the dollar. According to the IMF, where the rupee was at 74.6 against a dollar on 23 February, it reached a record level of 77.7 on 31 May. On the other hand, at the beginning of 2022, when the price of crude oil was $ 80 a barrel, it reached $ 128 a barrel after the Russian attack.

 

The inflation rate reached a record level

 

The annual inflation rate in India rose to 7.8% in April 2022, the highest since May 2014. Food inflation rose for the seventh consecutive month to 8.4%. On May 31, the price of vegetable oil rose 26.6% over the previous year, while the price of wheat jumped 14.3%. Apart from this, 45 countries around the world have reached the mouth of a serious food crisis.

 

68 million Ukrainian citizens on leaving the country

 

The Russian invasion has forced an exodus of 6.8 million people from Ukraine, which is about 15% of its population. That is, one out of every 6 Ukrainians was forced to leave the country. According to the UNHRC report, out of these 6.8 million people, about 3.6 million people have reached Poland, and its population has increased by 10%.

 

Where Ukraine's population was 43 million in 2021, it has now come down to 37 million. On the other hand, 8 million people have been internally displaced in Ukraine, due to which a major humanitarian crisis has arisen. The crisis is so dire that a child in Ukraine is becoming a war refugee with every passing second.

 

So far more than 10 thousand sanctions have been imposed on Russia

 

To lay siege to Russia, Western countries are constantly tightening the noose on sanctions. According to media reports, 5,831 sanctions have been imposed on Russia since the start of the war. Of these, the US has imposed a maximum number of 1,144 sanctions. Apart from this, more than 4,800 Russian citizens have been banned and 562 institutions and 458 companies have been kept under the ban. In total, 10,159 sanctions have been imposed on Russia since 2014.
