New Delhi, Jan 14 (IANS) A court here Wednesday reserved its order on a plea of three accused in a 1984 anti-Sikh riots case, seeking transfer of the case to another court on the ground of jurisdiction.
District Judge Talwant Singh fixed Jan 31 for delivering order on the plea of Brahmanand Gupta, Peeriya and Ved Prakash, seeking transfer of the case from Karkardooma district court in east Delhi to Rohini district court in west Delhi.
All the three, along with Congress leader Sajjan Kumar, are facing trial in connection with the killing of a man in the Sultanpuri area in west Delhi in the riots that erupted after the assassination of the then prime minister Indira Gandhi.
The court had framed various charges, including those of murder and rioting, against them.
Currently, the court is recording statements of prosecution witnesses in the case.
The Central Bureau of Investigation had filed two charge sheets against Sajjan Kumar and others in January 2010 in the riots cases registered in 2005 on the recommendation of Justice G.T. Nanavati Commission which had probed the sequence of events leading to the violence.
