New Delhi, Jan 27 (IANS) Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Tuesday released a white paper on water issues and asked the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) to come up with its planned measures to tackle water problems in the national capital.
"We want water for every citizen. Last time, we released a white paper on electricity, this time we want answers from the BJP to come with the measures to tackle water problem in Delhi," AAP leader Ashish Khetan told media.
Khetan said the AAP would provide water as a right to the residents of Delhi.
The party had announced 700 litres of free water daily for each household of the city after being voted to power in the last elections to the Delhi assembly.
"It will provide universal access to clean drinking water to all its citizens at an affordable price. The DJB (Delhi Jal Board) Act will be amended to make clean drinking water a right of people," said Khetan.
The party has also prepared a blue print after studying and analysing the water problem.
"The blueprint has been prepared on universal access to water, pricing policy for drinking water, its quality, water accounting and auditing and clampdown on water mafia," said Khetan.
He said the party will take steps to regulate the tube-wells and borewells installed and operating in the city.
