According to local media reports, some people thrashed Sikh youths walking on the road with sticks and then took off their turbans. By the time police personnel reached the spot after the incident, the accused fled. Local leaders associated with the Sikh organization also reached the spot and raised slogans against the police.
People should share information about the culprits: Attorney General
New York Attorney General Letitia James condemned the incident in a tweet. He said that the police are taking action against the criminals. The Indian Embassy has demanded the New York Police and the local authority take action against the culprits regarding the incident.
