The Karnataka government has made the online booking of autorickshaws illegal on ride-hailing apps of Ola, Uber, and Rapido from Wednesday (October 12). The decision was taken after a meeting held on Tuesday between the Karnataka Transport and Road Safety Department and representatives of mobility players. According to sources, Transport Commissioner THM Kumar held a meeting with the three companies. Speaking to the media, Kumar said ride-hailing platforms like Ola and Uber cannot provide autorickshaw services till the government takes a decision.
Several passengers had complained of overcharging, after which the government has taken this action citing a violation of rules.
