Pratipada Tithi of Chaitra month will start on March 21 at 10.52 pm. The next day, March 22, 2023, at 8.20 pm, this date will also end. Navratri will start on 22nd March 2023 as per Udaya Tithi. The festival of Gudi Padwa will also be celebrated on this day.

Significance of Gudi Padwa

Gudi Padwa is considered the beginning of the Hindu New Year. It is known by different names in different states of India. This festival is known as Ugadi in Karnataka, Ugadi in Andhra Pradesh, and Telangana. Whereas in Kashmir it is called 'Navareh', in Manipur it is called Sajibu Nongma Panba. Apart from this, people of the Konkani community in Goa and Kerala celebrate it as the festival of Samvatsar Padvo. Also, the people of the Sindhi community celebrate the festival of Cheti Chand on this day.

 

Gudi Padwa is the main festival of Maharashtra.

Gudi Padwa is specially celebrated in Maharashtra. On the day of Gudi Padwa, women plant beautiful Gudi at home and worship it. It is believed that keeping Gudi in the house keeps negative forces away. Happiness and prosperity come into the house.

 

It is believed that the brave Maratha Chhatrapati Shivaji ji first celebrated the festival of Gudi Padwa after winning the war. After this Marathi people follow this tradition every year. People celebrate this day as Victory Day. On this happy occasion, Rangoli is made outside the houses and victory is celebrated by hoisting the Patala.
