Congress leader Rahul Gandhi is ready to start the 'Bharat Nyay Yatra' on January 14. This journey will cover a distance of 6200 kilometers from Manipur to Mumbai. Senior Congress leader Jairam Ramesh gave this information recently. Since then there has been a stir in the political circles. Meanwhile, Rajya Sabha member and senior advocate Mahesh Jethmalani has expressed concern over the changed route of the yatra. He expressed his objections on various issues including the Congress's decision to sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Chinese Communist Party in 2008 and also sought answers from Jairam Ramesh.
It's strange to read Ramesh's thoughts.
Jethmalani targeted Jayaram by posting a post on the social media platform X. He said that it is strange to read Jairam Ramesh's views on Arunachal Pradesh in the last few years. It is now being said that as Environment Minister he wanted to review all the existing hydropower projects in the state and stop any new projects. Ramesh had then asserted that India would not be able to build dams on its own and should involve China in its hydropower projects in the state. When he was criticized everywhere, he wrote a letter to the then Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh, which when read makes it seem as if Arunachal Pradesh was not an integral part of India.
After India Jodo Yatra...
The BJP leader said that after Rahul Gandhi's Bharat Jodo visit, Jairam announced another visit in February this year. This time the journey was decided from Pasighat in Arunachal to Porbandar in Gujarat. Meanwhile, reports came in April that China had changed the names of 11 places in the state while laying claim to Arunachal Pradesh. Jairam held PM Modi responsible for this action of China. They alleged that the state was ignored and hence taken over by China. However, these allegations were rejected by a spokesperson of the Ministry of External Affairs because the nominal claims did not match the 'ground reality'. As usual, Jairam was registering a protest on a non-issue.
Rajya Sabha member Jethmalani further said, 'Senior Congress leader recently told the country that Rahul is going to undertake Bharat Nyay Yatra from Manipur to Mumbai. Meaning now this journey will not pass through Arunachal Pradesh. In such a situation, I have some questions, which Jairam should answer.
Ask this question-
1. Reason for change of route: Why was the original route of travel changed?
2. Boycott of Arunachal Pradesh: Have you deliberately kept Arunachal Pradesh out of the travel itinerary because China has changed the names of 11 places in the state?
3. Solidarity with Arunachal Pradesh: Since you were angry over this move by China, was it not necessary for the Congress to show the people of the state that it is with them and start the journey from there? Or at least include Andhra Pradesh in the itinerary?
4. China's role in insurgency: Do you agree that China promotes insurgency in the North-East and provides funds to promote violence in Manipur?
5. China's involvement in Manipur violence: Have you considered it at least as a possibility that China might have a hand in the Manipur violence earlier this year?
6. Role in the 2008 MOU: Did you personally have any role in the decision of Congress to enter into the MOU with the CCCP in 2008?
7. Awareness of the MOU: Are you aware of it in any event?
8. Recognition of Chinese sovereignty: Does the MOU state that INC recognizes Chinese sovereignty over Arunachal Pradesh?
9. Legality of the 2008 MOU: Do you believe that it was legal for an Indian political party that was in power at the Center in 2008 to enter into an MoU with the CCCP, which is synonymous with the Chinese state, which has controlled a part of Indian territory since 1962? Is a large portion illegally occupied?
10. Call for transparency: Shouldn't this MoU be made public under any circumstances on the principle of transparency about which you and your party whitewash?
this is the case
