Cyclone Biparjoy: The threat has increased in Gujarat due to cyclonic storm Biparjoy. Cyclone Biparjoy is fast moving towards the North Gujarat coast. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) issued an orange alert for the Saurashtra and Kutch coasts of Gujarat because of Cyclone Biparjoy on June 14.
More than 37 thousand people were sent to temporary shelters
Because of security, 37 thousand people have been shifted to safer places from eight districts of Kutch, Porbandar, Junagadh, Jamnagar, Devbhoomi-Dwarka, Gir-Somnath, Morbi, and Rajkot. Several teams of NDRF and SDRF have been deployed in the districts affected by Cyclone Chakraborty.

Because of the widespread impact of the storm in the Kutch district, arrangements have been made to provide more than 40,000 food packets and 2,000 kg of milk powder to needy people.
115 teams have been formed and deployed in these districts. The movement of the cyclone is likely to be towards the northeast and it is expected to move towards extreme south Rajasthan. According to news agency PTI, heavy rains are expected in North Gujarat from June 15 to 17.
Rescue operations being run in two phases
State Relief Commissioner Alok Kumar Pandey was quoted as saying by news agency PTI that the rescue operation is being carried out in two phases. In the first phase, people living within a radius of 0 to 5 km from the seashore are being evacuated. In the second phase, people living within 5 to 10 kilometers of the coast will be evacuated.
Jakhau will pass through the port
According to Ahmedabad IMD director Manorama Mohanty, the cyclone is expected to pass between Mandvi in Kutch and Karachi in Pakistan near Jakhau port on the evening of June 16. During this time the wind speed will be 125-135 kmph gusting to 150 kmph.
Alert for Porbandar and Devbhoomi Dwarka districts
The IMD has issued a warning of heavy rain with strong winds in the coastal parts of the Saurashtra-Kutch region. The warning is specifically for Kutch, Porbandar, and Devbhoomi Dwarka districts. Because of the cyclone, 17 NDRF and 12 SDRF teams have been kept on standby in the affected districts of Devbhoomi Dwarka, Rajkot, Jamnagar, Junagadh, Porbandar, Gir Somnath, Morbi, and Valsad.
