Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman presented the second interim budget of the Modi government in Parliament on Thursday. During the budget speech, the Finance Minister made several announcements about the ten years of achievements of the government.
Dr. Devi Dayal Gautam, Professor of Sociology at Delhi School of Economics, has commented on the interim budget of the Central Government. He said that what makes it special is Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman's budget speech and subsequent Prime Minister Narendra Modi's linking the budget with the goal of a developed India. Apart from being inclusive and innovative, this budget of the Modi government also points towards the future of India.
Trying to set a precedent to ensure justice
The Modi government is trying to set a new paradigm to ensure procedural justice with social fabric and identity politics intact. To ensure that everyone in the country has a fair share of the resources and wealth, continuous work is being done on a new vertical identity, which has been mentioned in this budget and the subsequent speech of the Prime Minister. These identities are youth, women, poor, and farmers.
Open accounts under Jan Dhan Yojana for weaker section
These four groups representing different sections of society are at the center of all the policies, programs, and campaigns of the Modi government. Today the Modi government has some plan or the other for all the sub-classes included in these four classes. From Startups and standups to Ujjwala, Pradhan Mantri Awas, Kisan Samman Nidhi, and Pradhan Mantri Anna Yojana, effective implementation shows how accounts under Jan Dhan Yojana have been opened for the weakest section of the society and the allocated amount is reaching everyone through Direct Benefit Transfer.
Rs 34 lakh crore has just been distributed
Before the Modi government, middlemen used to eat this money. Now this leakage has started to be reduced to a minimum and the benefits of all the schemes are reaching the last person in the society. Rs 34 lakh crore has just been distributed and about Rs 2.5 lakh crore has been saved.
The government is worrying about farmers and poor
Be it increasing the number of Lakhpati Didis from two to three crores tax exemption on stand-ups or the announcement of giving two crore new houses to the poor or extending the Ayushman scheme to Anganwadi and Asha workers - all these schemes show how is this government worrying about women, youth, farmers and the poor?
Identity will also be new in the newly developed India
When Prime Minister Modi is talking about the developed India of 2047, he is also repeatedly indicating that the identity of the newly developed India will also be new. All sections will be included in this. The state will provide as much support to those who need it and help them move forward.
The whole idea of social empowerment also depends on this thinking that we should strengthen various sections of society so much that after a time they do not need any kind of support.
