British MPs discuss farmer protests, India rebukes like this

The echo of the peasant movement against agricultural laws in India was also heard in the UK Parliament on Monday. British MPs discussed the peasant movement in the Parliament of India on Monday, to which India raised strong objections and rebuked it as a false claim. The Indian High Commission in London condemned the discussion between some British MPs on an 'e-petition' over the issue of the right to protest peacefully and the freedom of the press amid the ongoing farmers' agitation against three laws in India Has The Indian High Commission on Monday evening condemned the discussion that took place in Britain's parliament complex and said that false claims have been made in this one-sided discussion.

 

The High Commission said in a statement, "It is a matter of regret that false claims have been made without any sound basis, rather than a balanced debate ... It has raised questions over one of the world's largest democracies and its institutions." The discussion was held on an 'e-petition' signed by more than one lakh people. The Indian High Commission has expressed its displeasure over the discussion. However, the UK government has already described the issue of India's three new agricultural laws as its 'domestic matter'.

 

Underlining the importance of India, the British Government said, 'India and Britain serve as a force for the betterment of the UN Security Council and bilateral cooperation between the two countries helps solve many global problems. ' The High Commission said that it had to react to the said debate as it expressed apprehensions about India.

Earlier in February, India wrote an open letter, clearing the 'misunderstanding' among the British MPs about the peasant movement going on at various borders of Delhi. It says that many people based abroad are trying to provoke the movement further through misinformation due to their selfishness. The Indian High Commission based in London wrote an open letter to the British MP Claudia Webb, through which the Government of India explained the attitude towards the movement. The Web has consistently raised the issue of the peasant movement inside and outside the British Parliament. He is an MP from Leicester East, where a large number of people of Indian origin live.
